The search for a new Wolverine continues within the MCU, with many fans already convinced that X-23 actress Dafne Keen is the perfect fit for the role.
Thanks to Deadpool and Wolverine, the MCU multiverse is now filled with numerous thrilling Wolverine variations. One of the most surprising was the appearance of Henry Cavill, known for his role in the struggling DCEU, as “The Cavillrine.”
However, fans have already identified their top choice for the role of Wolverine in the MCU: Dafne Keen from Logan, who is set to reprise her role as Laura/X-23 in Deadpool & Wolverine.
Social media posts, such as those on the X-Men Updates account, are gaining attention as fans join together in support of the casting decision.

“”BEGIN?!”exclaimed one fan, who had been expressing this sentiment for years, according to Jonathan Eff’s tweet.
Another individual expressed their readiness for X-23 to take over in the franchise after 25 years of Wolverine.
“Another person requested that Marvel give this to Dafne Keen after Hugh Jackman’s portrayal of Wolverine is finished. Please.”
Despite the widespread calls for Keen to portray Wolverine, there are also many voices expressing disapproval for the potential casting. Additionally, some are claiming that it would be “woke”or unreasonable to replace a male character with a female one, but this is a common tactic used in bad faith.
It is worth noting that this has already been established in the comics, as Laura has abandoned her X-23 persona and has been using the Wolverine alias for an extended period of time.
Laura is canonically Marvel’s second Wolverine, using the name simultaneously with Logan.
Ever since her adoptive father’s passing in 2016, Laura has taken on the Wolverine codename to fill the void he left behind. While she temporarily switched back to the X-23 codename upon his return, it was short-lived and they have both been known as Wolverine for several years now.
Hiring Keen as the new Wolverine could be just the right move at this time. Jackman’s 20-year tenure will likely be used as a benchmark, and any future actor taking on the role will inevitably be compared to him. However, opting for someone with a completely different approach could make it stand out enough that fans may not make such a direct comparison.
At present, the plans for Wolverine’s role in the MCU remain unknown. Although Deadpool and Wolverine have playfully discussed the possibility of Hugh Jackman portraying the character until he reaches 90 years old, all we have are ongoing rumors that he will potentially reprise his role as Logan in the future.
Laura has been presented with an opportunity to take on a larger role, as she was saved during the closing moments of Deadpool & Wolverine as a part of the MCU. Based on her performance in The Acolyte, it appears that she is available to play the role if the MCU were to ask.
