Possible Confusion Between Tom Hanks Film and Young Sheldon Spinoff

Tom Hanks’ latest film, directed by Robert Zemeckis, is causing quite a stir. However, not for its promising plot, but rather because many believe it to be a spinoff of Young Sheldon.

The source of this transformation can be traced back to the de-aging technique utilized in the recent film Here, which portrays Hanks and Robin Wright as younger versions of themselves. In the released images, both actors exude a youthful aura, appearing to be in their twenties or thirties.

Despite the film’s overall style, many have mistaken the images of the cast members for the characters from Young Sheldon. The main reason for this confusion is a photo of Hanks embracing Wright while wearing a short-sleeved shirt similar to Sheldon’s.

This assumption is not entirely incorrect. Given that a Young Sheldon spinoff called “Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage”is currently being developed, it is understandable that many have speculated that these images are related to the Sheldonverse.

One X user admitted to skipping over this multiple times on the timeline, initially mistaking it for something related to Young Sheldon. Another commented that they also believed these were screenshots from the Young Sheldon spinoff.

“Another person stated that while scrolling, they were convinced that this was Young Sheldon, according to a tweet.”

Someone on social media noticed the resemblance between the first picture and a mash-up of Tom Hanks and Young Sheldon. This observation was echoed by another commenter who said, “It’s like they turned Tom Hanks into Young Sheldon.”

Another person wrote that they immediately thought this was Young Sheldon.

While a Young Sheldon spinoff starring Tom Hanks would certainly be entertaining, that is not currently in the works.

Zemeckis has reunited with Hanks and Wright, three decades after their collaboration in Forrest Gump. This new drama features a unique concept, as the entire story unfolds within the confines of an American living room, with the camera remaining stationary, spanning a century.

The movie also features Paul Bettany and Kelly Reilly from the cast of Yellowstone.

“According to Zemeckis in an interview with Vanity Fair, the perspective in the film remains constant while everything around it evolves. This approach has never been attempted before, although there have been similar scenes in early silent movies prior to the invention of montage. Despite the risk, Zemeckis was determined to execute this concept.”

Mark your calendars for November 15, 2024, because that’s when Here will hit theaters. Don’t miss out on the other highly anticipated movies of 2024 and the exciting conclusion of Young Sheldon.
