Possible Copycat Class in Diablo 4 Sparks Concern Among Players

The upcoming expansion for Diablo 4, Vessel of Hatred, will feature the introduction of the all-new Spiritborn class. However, there are players who are not particularly impressed with its similarities to the Druid and Monk classes from previous games.

Blizzard provided all the necessary information about the Spiritborn class during a dedicated livestream on July 18, where they discussed the origins of these warriors from the jungle tribes of Nahantu and their ability to summon Spirits as allies.

Despite this, fans of Diablo expressed the belief that the class was too reminiscent of others, using Reddit as a platform to voice their opinions that it was simply a “more impressive version of the Druid”or a “green-colored Monk.”

“One player expressed confusion, saying, “What is happening with this? It seems like they just decided to add a thin Druid instead of trying to improve the class.”Meanwhile, some players were convinced that the class had not received any significant changes.

Spiritborn’s gameplay heavily relies on utilizing Guardian Spirits, also known as familiars, in combat, which is a main reason why it has been criticized for its similarities to both the Druid and Monk classes. Its Amazonian aesthetic has also drawn comparisons to the Witch Doctor from Diablo 3.

“Another player expressed frustration with the constant repetition of “Oh it’s brand new, it’s all new, it’s not the Monk, it’s not the Druid,”when in reality it is a combination of Druid and Monk, with elements of Witch Doctor.”

Despite the popularity of the Paladin class, there were also many players who did not want the addition of the Spiritborn class. One player commented, “It seems like a combination of Monk and Druid. I still hope for the inclusion of Paladin in the future.”

Despite the numerous similarities that have been reported, there are certainly some new skills and abilities that showcase a creative flair. A prime example of this is the combination of spellcasting and summoning familiars, which was not as effortless in Diablo 4 prior to this. As of writing, fans have only had the chance to view the gameplay trailer, leaving the possibility for their opinions to potentially shift once the expansion is officially released.
