Possible hints of Himawari receiving Kurama in Boruto

Possible hints of Himawari receiving Kurama in Boruto

The recent release of Boruto: Two Blue Vortex chapter 10 revealed that Himawari Uzumaki had inherited Kurama from her father, much to the surprise of fans. This came as a shock since it was previously believed that Kurama had perished in the fight against Isshiki Otsutsuki. However, the latest chapter showed that Kurama had actually returned and now resided within Himawari.

Despite Kurama’s resurrection, certain fans have expressed their belief that its development came unexpectedly without any prior hints. While fans were thrilled that Himawari had inherited the nine-tailed beast, they had hoped for the series to foreshadow it beforehand. Little did they know, the series had actually foreshadowed it several times.

Please be advised that this article contains spoilers from the Boruto manga.

How Boruto foreshadowed Himawari’s inheritance of Kurama

Parent and Child Day

The Parent and Child Day arc of the anime contained the most foreshadowing about Himawari inheriting Kurama from her father.

The story arc’s primary visual showcased Kurama, and the accompanying pamphlet for Parent and Child Day also included a depiction of a parent and baby fox, suggesting the possibility of Himawari inheriting baby Kurama. Additionally, the Kurama plush was prominently displayed throughout the arc.

Considering this, Himawari’s request for her father to purchase a Kurama plush during the arc was significant. As the miniature version of the tailed beast, it was clear that the anime was hinting at Himawari eventually inheriting Kurama from her father.

Throughout the anime, Himawari has been seen carrying a Kurama purse on multiple occasions. Although this may not seem significant, the fact that this accessory was prominently featured in an anime opening theme and other visuals could suggest that Himawari was being foreshadowed as the future host of the nine-tailed beast in the series.

Boruto’s Kurama Chakra Mode Visual

Prior to the start of the manga series, Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of the manga, had already sketched the new Team 7. In the sketch, Mitsuki was depicted in his Sage Mode, Sarada had her Mangekyo Sharingan activated, and Boruto had both his Byakugan eyes and Kurama Chakra Mode activated.

Despite Mitsuki and Sarada both achieving their destinies of Sage Mode and Mangekyo Sharingan, it appears unlikely that Boruto will ever fulfill his prophecy. According to the initial sketch, the protagonist was meant to awaken the Byakugan and inherit Kurama’s power, but this may not come to pass.

Despite being known to fans, he has not yet activated Byakugan and appears to have missed out on inheriting Kurama. Additionally, he has also lost one of his eyes. As a result, it is highly unlikely that the protagonist will ever achieve the state depicted in the sketch.

Hence, it is possible that throughout the development of the story, Masashi Kishimoto, the creator of the manga, altered his original intentions for the main character and instead incorporated them into the character of his sister, Himawari.

Himawari has already activated her Byakugan and inherited the Kurama Chakra. This suggests that she may soon enter Kurama Chakra Mode and fulfill her brother’s previously intended destiny.
