This week marks the conclusion of Season 11 of When Calls the Heart, but fans are concerned about what the future holds.
In 2024, the trend of small-town drama continues to captivate audiences, as the eleventh season of When Calls the Heart remains a top-rated show on the Hallmark channel.
As the highly-anticipated season finale is set to air this week after 11 episodes, fans eagerly await its arrival. However, some have pointed out a potential issue now that the resort has become abandoned.
Despite Lucas’s struggle to find bidders for the project, Rosemary leaked in her article that he had canceled it. Now that the resort is officially not moving forward, what will happen next?
One fan expressed their disapproval of the resort on Reddit, stating that they did not like or understand the idea of it. While they acknowledged that it would bring tourism and jobs during its initial construction, the overwhelming influx of people for the hot springs did not

One person suggested, “A theater in the area led by Rosemary,”while another added, “They could make a change to the narrative, but it should not drastically transform Hope Valley into a bustling town or city. Hallmark strives to maintain the charming frontier atmosphere.”

Despite none of the above solutions addressing Lucas’ future, he still requires a clear purpose to remain in Hope Valley. At the very least, without the project, he may become a mere background character.
In addition, the TV show is facing other challenges. There have been rumors that Chris McNally may be departing from the show, and Mamie Laverock remains in critical condition after falling five stories from a hospital balcony.
According to IMDb, ratings for When Calls the Heart Season 12 have been confirmed to continue plummeting.
One fan pondered that the show only cares about Elizabeth’s happiness and would never allow Lucas to find a woman he loves as it would be a constant reminder to Elizabeth.
“As someone suggested, the best solution would be for him to leave Hope Valley and interact with women in other towns. However, as he is still wanted as a main character, I am unsure of how they will accomplish this.”
