A Community Manager for Helldivers 2 has announced that there are plans to potentially implement test servers in order to balance new content before it is officially released in the main game.
Despite being highly regarded as one of the top games of the past five years, Helldivers 2 is not without its flaws. Its fans do not blindly praise it, and this is not in reference to the PSN controversy. The game’s balancing is a topic of discussion.
The introduction of certain changes to the effectiveness of some enjoyable weapons has sparked vocal responses from players. We have all experienced the Rail Gun nerfs and, more recently, the attempted “fixing”of the R-36 Eruptor.
Thankfully, the Helldivers 2 development team seems to be actively seeking solutions to issues such as these. In fact, Community Manager Twinbeard has shared plans for potential test servers, which would greatly benefit the game.
Perhaps we could see more useful Exosuits in the future.
Twinbeard confirmed that the possibility of test servers in the Helldivers 2 Discord server was being considered when answering questions. However, the Community Manager stopped short of outright confirming them.
“Yes, discussions are taking place! We cannot confirm if there will be any developments or at what stage we are in the process of organizing something, but similar alternatives are being explored,”they disclosed. This is not unexpected, as Arrowhead CEO Johan Pilestedt recently expressed interest in altering the game’s balancing procedures.
Following its first-ever Public Test Realm, Diablo 4’s major content update has generated genuine excitement among players. Adopting a similar approach for Helldivers 2 could prevent player disappointment caused by significant nerfs.
Obviously, Helldivers 2 is considering various options for test servers, and while it appears to be the most promising option, there is no assurance that it will be the ultimate solution for balancing the game chosen by Arrowhead.
