Possible Plot for Spider-Man 4: Exploring the Multiverse Before Secret Wars

It seems likely that Spider-Man 4 will also be a story involving the multiverse, but could it also introduce one of the most beloved Spider-Man stories of the last ten years into the MCU prior to the events of Secret Wars?

Ever since the success of No Way Home, there have been ongoing rumors that Sony was planning to continue the trend with another large-scale multiverse journey for Spider-Man in a potential fourth installment. It’s understandable given the film’s overwhelming success, receiving rave reviews and crossing the $1 billion mark at the box office.

It appears that Sony’s wish may finally be coming true. According to insider DanielRPK, the upcoming Spider-Man 4 film will continue the trend of exploring multiple universes and will likely take place within the events of the Battleworld arc leading up to Secret Wars.

The potential use of Secret Wars as the setting for the next Spider-Man movie may offer a unique opportunity to delve into the beloved web-slinger’s many iterations across different dimensions.

The Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows

The 2015 Secret Wars took place eight years following the infamous One More Day arc, during which Spider-Man and Mary Jane made a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May by selling their marriage. As a result, they were faced with the realization that their daughter would never come into existence due to the terms of the agreement.

Renew Your Vows saw Peter and MJ attempt a normal life with their daughter in the shadow of Secret Wars.

However, viewers were given a sneak peek into a reality where this never occurred through an alternate timeline showcased in the Secret Wars tie-in mini-series The Amazing Spider-Man: Renew Your Vows.

In this story’s universe, Peter and MJ’s marriage remains intact and they have a daughter named Anna-May “Annie”Parker. Following Venom’s attack on the Avengers, Peter retires from his superhero duties to focus on his family. However, years later, he is forced to come out of retirement and fight alongside his loved ones.

Renew Your Vows became immensely popular and even spawned its own spin-off series set in a parallel universe, following the continued adventures of Peter, MJ, and Annie as superheroes.

Hypothetical Scenario: Incorporating Renew Your Vows into the MCU via Secret Wars

The possibility of bringing Renew Your Vows to the MCU through the Raimi Spider-Man provides a one-of-a-kind chance, as there is already a suitable method in place with the promise of an MCU Battleworld.

Renew Your Vows is the perfect template for Secret Wars to revisit the Raimi Spider-Man universe.

Think about it: we never discovered the events unfolding in that world. This was a deliberate decision, as it was reported that Tobey Maguire did not want to spend excessive time solidifying the details of what had occurred to his Spider-Man. The only thing we are aware of is that his connection with MJ is “somewhat complicated,”yet they managed to make it function.

The ending of the Raimi Spider-Man universe leaves room for the possibility of Peter and MJ being together and starting a family. This could provide a contrast to the current struggles of the MCU’s Peter Parker in No Way Home. It also serves as a conclusion for the Raimi universe while leaving the door open for a potential next arc if the creators decide to revisit it in the future.

It is important to note that these are all mere speculations at this moment. Information regarding Spider-Man 4 remains limited, including its setting on Battleworld and its release date. As of the latest update, a script is currently in the works and an official announcement is expected to be made soon.

The upcoming MCU project is Captain America: Brave New World.
