An Instagram post from Joanna Bobin, who portrays Lady Cowper, has led fans to believe that Season 4 will focus on Benedict’s story.
The Instagram post was posted on X/Twitter, featuring Bobin in hair and makeup. The caption included a “fun fact”revealing that Lady Cowper’s real name is Araminta. This detail holds great significance for die-hard book fans.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the romance of Benedict Bridgerton, the second oldest son. In his novel, An Offer From a Gentleman, he crosses paths with Sophie Beckett. Sophie becomes his beloved when she becomes a maid at the Bridgerton residence and eventually becomes his wife. So, what is the link between these two?
Sophie’s backstory reveals that she is the illegitimate child of the Earl of Penwood. Following her mother’s passing, her father left her in the care of servants… until his marriage to Countess Penwood, also known as Araminta. From then on, Araminta becomes her malevolent stepmother.

Bridgerton Season 3 has further developed Cressida Cowper’s story, potentially paving the way for the introduction of more members of her family. It appears that the show is taking liberties by having Cressida take on the roles of book characters Posy and Rosamund. In contrast, the series depicts Cressida as an only child, while the books depict Sophie as having three step-sisters.
It is important to remember that the third season also featured Benedict’s tumultuous romance with Lady Tilley Arnold, which had the potential to end in tragedy.
As viewers have observed, Bridgerton has deviated from the book series by shifting its focus to Colin and Penelope. According to Jess Brownell in an interview with Variety, “I believe it’s time for Colin and Penelope to shine.
