For those concerned that Treyarch will discontinue creating new round-based Zombies maps in Black Ops 6, the development team has shared reassuring updates.
Terminus, one of the biggest round-based maps ever created by Treyarch, is set on an island in the Philippine Sea and is included in the launch of Black Ops 6 along with another Zombies map.
Meanwhile, Liberty Falls is set in a decaying town in West Virginia. Although we are familiar with Terminus, Treyarch has announced that they will unveil the second Zombies map for Call of Duty: Next on August 28th.
Treyarch has confirmed that BO6 will solely focus on round-based content and will continue to release additional Zombie maps throughout the live seasons. Therefore, there are no intentions to limit themselves to just two maps for this game.

For Zombies enthusiasts, this has been a highly anticipated moment. Rather than sticking to the traditional round-based gameplay, Treyarch made the decision to prioritize objective completion in CoD Vanguard.
The community members reacted negatively to the decision, prompting the development team to reconsider. As a result, round-based maps were eventually added to the title’s life cycle, although it took four years for the last two to be released. These were the final round-based environments for a significant period of time.
It is worth mentioning that a portion of the player community appreciated the objective-focused Outbreak game mode in Black Ops: Cold War and were hoping for its return in BO6.
Outbreak offered players a vast open-world setting where they could engage in combat, discover new areas, gather resources, acquire loot, and accomplish various objectives, in contrast to the traditional round-based format of gameplay.
“A player argued, expressing disappointment in the absence of an outbreak mode. They clarified that they were not suggesting removing round-based mode for everyone, but rather questioning why the two modes could not coexist simultaneously.”
Despite conceding defeat, Outbreak fans eagerly anticipate the potential return of the mode in future Call of Duty games, particularly after the release of B06 in 2025.
“Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like Outbreak will be making a comeback anytime soon, possibly on Verdansk or Avalon,”another user expressed. “However, I am thrilled to see the classic zombies mode being given such great attention this year!”
