Post Mocking BTS’s “Dokdo is Our Land” Reaches 20 Million Views “Another Attack by Japanese Right Wing”

According to the team of Professor Seo Kyung-duk, the X (formerly Twitter) account for “Share News Japan”shared a video of BTS’s leader RM wearing a hanbok and singing “Dokdo is Our Land”, satirizing the incident.

According to Professor Seo Kyung-duk from Sungshin Women’s University, they became aware of this issue through reports from numerous fans of BTS. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the video has accumulated 20 million views and is sparking controversy amongst Japanese right-wing organizations.

Additionally, they included a statement mocking “comfort women,”explaining that BTS’s leader wears clothing associated with the comfort women and sings about Takeshima (the Japanese name for Dokdo) being Korean territory.

The Japanese right wing has sparked controversy in Japan before due to BTS’s Jimin wearing a T-shirt commemorating Liberation Day during a broadcast and RM’s Liberation Day tweet on social media.

Professor Seo stated that with the increasing global reach of K-pop, the Japanese right wing has become more critical. In order to prevent similar incidents from happening again, it is important to consistently address their distorted historical views and actions, both at home and on the international stage.
