Echoes Act 2 has recently introduced a new Catalyst for one of the most sought-after Exotics. Initial feedback suggests that this addition may pose a significant challenge in PvP battles.
The latest Destiny season, Episode Echoes, follows the same structure as its predecessors with the addition of one significant alteration. The Season Pass now extends to Rank 200, but any ranks beyond 100 require completion of Acts 2 and 3.
The Exotic Catalyst for Red Death Reformed was one of the locked-off rewards that were included. It was released on July 16 and should be acquired at the earliest opportunity. This catalyst enhances an already top-tier Exotic weapon, making it even more powerful.
Red Death Reformed’s Catalyst enhances the weapon by charging it with each Final Blow, resulting in a Healing Burst that not only heals the wielder, but also restores the health of their teammates. This is an added bonus to the gun’s base Exotic Perk, Redemption, which already provides a Cure after each kill.
Having the Catalyst equipped allows Guardians to effortlessly generate an unlimited supply of Cure and health regeneration, ensuring the survival of their entire team and causing great hardship for their opponents. This is particularly advantageous in objective-based game modes, where the Catalyst’s healing remnants can effectively sustain multiple players while they capture or control points.
This addition, which had the potential to redefine the meta, did not go unnoticed by the community. In fact, a highly upvoted Reddit post declared that “Red Death’s Catalyst is Insane,”and claimed that when combined with Solar Fragments such as Ember of Empyrean and Ember of Benevolence, it renders you “completely broken.”
The Ember of Empyrean Fragment increases the duration of all Restoration effects, while the Ember of Benevolence Fragment grants a 400% ability regeneration bonus after healing allies. Solar builds can effectively utilize these Fragments to prolong healing and ensure that abilities are always available.
In terms of PvE, Red Death Reformed has always been a reliable source of healing. With the addition of this new Catalyst, its effectiveness is amplified, making it an excellent choice for challenging content where survivability is prioritized over sheer damage output.
In PvE, the value of healing teammates may not be as high, but it can still prove to be advantageous in situations where you are constantly under attack. Players who prefer support weapons such as Lumina, The Navigator, and No Hesitation will find this Exotic Pulse Rifle to be a perfect fit for their playstyle.
To obtain Red Death Reformed’s Catalyst, players must reach Rank 145 on the season pass. The most efficient approach to achieving this is by completing seasonal challenges and Pathfinder bounties, as both methods offer substantial amounts of experience.
