Potential New Fighters for Mortal Kombat 1: Chucky and Invincible from Kameo

According to Ed Boon, potential Kameo fighters for the second year of Mortal Kombat 1 could include Chucky, Invincible, and a few lesser-known MK characters.

NetherRealm Studios and WB Games announced Kombat Pack 2 for MK1 at SDCC 2024, revealing a roster of new playable characters including Cyrax, Sektor, Noob Saibot, Conan the Barbarian, Ghostface, and T-1000.

Despite the announcement and reveal trailer, there was no mention of which Kameo fighters would be joining these guest characters.

To gather feedback, the developers of the game have asked Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon to put a few of their ideas up for a vote on Twitter/X.

During the design meeting, Chucky and Invincible were among the names suggested. The team is also contemplating the return of Kidd Thunder, Raiden’s nephew who makes an appearance in an MK2 Friendship, as well as Blanche, the elderly woman who is featured in some MKX stage Brutalities.

Boon’s question has resulted in clear fan favorites. As of now, Invincible is leading the pack with 38 percent of the vote, closely followed by Chucky in second place with 33 percent.

Despite a strong showing, Blanche lags behind with only 17 percent support, while Kidd Thunder trails even further with a mere 10 percent of fans expressing interest in his inclusion on the Kameo fighters roster for Mortal Kombat 1.

Despite the initial results of the X poll, Kidd Thunder has gained a larger following on the Mortal Kombat subreddit. In a Reddit thread, one individual stated, “It’s a shame that people are not voting for Kidd Thunder.”

However, for a lot of people, Chucky appears to be the most appealing choice, particularly due to the character’s recent comeback in the highly praised Syfy series.

Chucky’s potential appearance as a Ghostface Kameo would add an intriguing element to Mortal Kombat, especially if his voice actor, Brad Dourif, is involved. As someone mentioned in the Reddit thread, the thought of Chucky hurling insults at you throughout the battle is both terrifying and thrilling.

Despite the uncertainty surrounding the Year 2 Kameo fighters in Mortal Kombat 1, the release of the new DLC is still expected to happen soon.

On September 24, Khaos Reigns, a story expansion, will be released. Cyrax, Sektor, and Noob Saibot will also be launched on this day, while Ghostface, Conan, and T-1000 do not have confirmed release dates yet.
