The Phoenix Suns, owned by Mat Ishbia, have recently unveiled an exciting new value menu that offers concessions priced at just $2. This initiative has garnered an overwhelmingly positive response from basketball fans, who often find the cost of attending an NBA game exorbitant.
With ticket prices already stretching budgets, the costs associated with food and beverages can significantly escalate expenses. Historically, fans have faced a frustrating landscape of rising prices, with items such as hot dogs costing around $9 and bags of chips hitting $7.
Recognizing this issue, Ishbia took to X on December 18 to announce a menu tailored for families attending games at the Footprint Center in Arizona. He emphasized the need for affordable options, stating, “Winning starts with our fans. When I walk the concourse at games, there aren’t food options for families who don’t want to spend a lot of money. That needs to change, so today we’re rolling out our $2 value menu for all home Suns games.”

The new pricing structure is transformative; for instance, a typical meal for a family of four, which previously cost around $98 for hot dogs, water, and popcorn, can now be enjoyed for only $24. Ishbia highlighted, “Our fans and community are the foundation of what we do, and we will continue to invest in making this the best organization in all of basketball, on and off the court.”

The newly introduced value menu features significant price reductions—some items have seen drops of at least $7, while others have fallen by more than $5. For example, hot dogs are now available at just $2, alongside other affordable choices like bags of chips or popcorn, Dasani water, and fountain drinks, all priced at $2 each.
Praise for the New Value Menu from Sports Fans
The reaction from sports fans has been overwhelmingly supportive, with many commending Ishbia’s decisions geared towards prioritizing customer satisfaction. One supporter on X exclaimed, “Man of the people!” reinforcing the community-centric approach taken by the Suns’ organization.

Another fan praised the initiative, stating, “This is amazing! Good work by the Suns organization.” Additional comments reflected a desire for other sports teams to adopt similar strategies, with one user suggesting, “This guy needs to buy a team in the MLB. Sports need owners like Mat Ishbia.”
The announcement of the Suns’ value menu comes in the wake of a viral incident involving sky-high concession prices at a college football game. A receipt shared online displayed a staggering $653 charge for just two pizzas and wings, sparking outrage across the sports community.
