Pretty Little Liars spin-off retcons massively disliked storyline in Season 2

Summer School successfully corrected one of the weakest storylines from Season 1 by retconning it in Pretty Little Liars.

The second season of the Pretty Little Liars spin-off series, titled Summer School, quickly reversed one of the most disliked plot developments from the first season: the adoption of Imogen Adams’ baby by a couple.

In Season 1, known as Original Sin, Imogen faced the difficulty of an unwanted pregnancy resulting from an assault. She struggled to make a decision about the future of her baby, ultimately choosing adoption. However, viewers were outraged when they learned that her baby would be given to Aria Montgomery, a long-standing member of the series, and her husband Ezra Fitz, who was previously her high school teacher.

According to Nerdinitiative, Summer School completely unraveled that storyline by featuring Imogen discussing how her baby is now being raised by two fathers instead of Aria and Ezra.

Many loyal followers of Original Sin were left feeling let down when the show chose to have Imogen give her baby to Aria and Ezra, with one fan expressing their frustration on Twitter by stating, “I can’t stand that PLL Original Sin ended with Imogen giving her baby to Aria and Ezra, especially since Ezra deserves to be in jail.”

Despite being a beloved couple during the original run of Pretty Little Liars, the relationship between Aria and Ezra has garnered criticism from fans. This is due to the fact that they began dating when Aria was only 16 years old and Ezra was her high school English teacher.

Upon seeing the negative response to the adoption announcement, it appears that Summer School has decided to reverse their decision, which is likely the most beneficial course of action since Ezra could be considered a criminal in the real world.
