While this announcement has not been covered by major news outlets, Feature First had previously revealed information about Paapa Essiedu’s casting as Severus Snape—a detail later substantiated by The Hollywood Reporter. This suggests that their sourcing could be credible.

While it is prudent to approach this casting rumor with cautious optimism, McTeer emerges as a fitting choice. With her exceptional prowess as a British actress and her age of 63, she would be 66 when the series is slated to premiere in 2027.
