PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition Sells Out Instantly, Now Reselling for Thousands

Pre-orders for the limited 30th Anniversary edition of the new PS5 Pro became available on September 26. However, excited gamers were left disheartened as the console sold out almost instantly, with listings on resale platforms reflecting prices up to five times higher than the original.

This exclusive bundle not only marks three decades of PlayStation’s legacy but also features a stylish grey design reminiscent of the original PlayStation console. A total of only 12,300 units were released globally, and although the price was set at £960, fans quickly snapped up the available stocks.

Shoppers who attempted to purchase from Amazon UK were met with the disappointing message that the consoles had sold out just moments after pre-orders started at 10 AM. Many voiced their frustrations on social media, claiming that the console seemed available, but their efforts to add it to their baskets were thwarted.

“There was an Add to Cart button for me, but when I clicked it nothing happened. Disappointing,” shared one user on X. Conversely, those who sought to buy from the official PlayStation website found themselves in a queue, only to miss out as the consoles were fully sold before they reached the checkout.

As anticipated, following the sellout across the UK and Europe, the consoles soon appeared on platforms like eBay at dramatically inflated prices. The controller alone has been listed for around £300 / $400, while the entire bundle is being offered for an astounding £5,000 (approximately $6,680).

Fortunately, some fans who missed out on the exclusive edition successfully purchased the standard PS5 Pro, which launched at the same time.

For those in the US looking to snag the bundle, it will be available for sale today at 7 AM PT / 10 AM ET.
