Gojo Satoru, renowned for his Six Eyes and Limitless cursed technique, was widely considered to be the most powerful sorcerer of his era. In their initial encounter, he boldly challenged Sukuna to a one-on-one fight, confidently proclaiming that no matter how many times they clashed, he would emerge victorious.
In Chapter 236, the sorcerer met his demise at the hands of Ryomen Sukuna. Despite his previous resurrection against Toji Fushigoro, fans were hopeful for his return. However, Gege’s recent comparison of Gojo Satoru to a Sazanka flower has greatly decreased the likelihood of his return. The author has portrayed Gojo as a Sazanka flower disguised as a Tsubaki flower.

Gege Akutami’s Comments on Jujutsu Kaisen Hint at Gojo’s Unlikely Return in the Future
The final phase of the battle of the strongest will be showcased in Jujutsu Kaisen volume 26, which will also be the last volume to feature Gojo Satoru alive. Gege Akutami’s comments at the beginning of this volume confirm this.
“Originally, as I had planned, Gojo was supposed to be drawn with a camellia flower, but he lost…. That’s why he’s drawn with a flower that looks like a camellia, it’s not a camellia, it’s a different camellia.”
Camellia holds great cultural significance in Japan, with two specific varieties, Tsubaki and Sazanka, being of utmost importance. The author’s intention was to draw a comparison between Gojo Satoru and the Tsubaki flower, which represents perfection and was inspired by the author’s contemplations about his return.
The volume also included a depiction of the Sazanka flower, a flower closely resembling the Tsubaki but distinct in its own right. This serves as a symbol for the author’s belief that Gojo may never be able to return, as he was not a true Tsubaki flower.
Summary of Volume 26
After emerging victorious in the domain battle against Ryomen Sukuna, Gojo Satoru’s hope of winning was quickly crushed when the King of Curses summoned Mahoraga, who was already well-versed in Infinite Void. In order to keep fighting, Gojo had to resort to using his Limitless Techniques, Lapse Blue and Reversal Red, against Sukuna.
The King of Curses responded to Gojo’s every move by utilizing the Ten Shadow Technique to summon multiple shikigami. Sukuna strengthened his forces by merging certain shikigami and calling forth Agito.
Gojo Satoru, having exhausted most of his cursed techniques, resorted to chanting for his ultimate move, the same one he had used at the beginning of the fight: Hollow Purple. Sukuna remained unaware of Gojo’s actions until the chanting was finished, and only then did he unleash his technique upon Ryomen Sukuna.
Despite sustaining grave injuries from a powerful attack, Sukuna managed to use Cleave to evade Gojo’s Hollow Purple and strike him. This caused the strongest sorcerer to be fatally sliced in half, declaring Sukuna as the victorious one. The final chapter of the volume portrayed Gojo reuniting with his deceased comrades and Kashimo joining the battle.
