In Borderlands 4, players immerse themselves in an action-packed looter-shooter experience, consistently on the hunt for superior weaponry. However, equally crucial is the selection of skills tailored to your chosen character. While personal preference plays a significant role, understanding the most effective skill builds for characters such as Harlow, Amon, Vex, and Rafa can enhance your gameplay. If you find your initial skill choices unsatisfactory, rest assured that you have the flexibility to respect your character’s skills.

Unlocking Respec in Borderlands 4

To access your first Respec machine, you must complete the third main mission entitled Down and Outbound. This segment occurs relatively early in the game, so it shouldn’t require much time to achieve.

You’ll discover the Respec machine at The Launchpad, conveniently situated within the main building, adjacent to a Lost Loot Machine and a Bank.

Resetting Skill Points

To reset skill points in Borderlands 4, approach any Respec machine and spend some in-game currency. The cost may vary depending on your current cash reserves, but acquiring money is generally straightforward in the game.

Although you will encounter the Respec machine at The Launchpad during your main questline, similar machines are available in other major towns. Once you interact with the machine, you can choose to reset a specific skill tree or all your skills entirely. It’s essential to ensure you finalize your selections before exiting the menu, as backing out will require you to pay again to initiate the respec process.

Respecing Specialization Points

Specialization points can also be reset at Respec machines, but this process requires Eridium instead of regular currency. To acquire Eridium, players should complete various Bounty Board contracts.

After completing the campaign, you can invest in one of the four Specialization branches: Survivor, Brute, Sharpshooter, and Runner. If you find that your selections do not align with your desired playstyle, head to any Respec machine with your collected Eridium, and you can reset your points to consider new options.

Finding Respec Machine Locations

Respec machines are marked on the game map with an icon featuring a person’s head enclosed within a triangle, resembling the recycling symbol. You’ll find them in several locations across the game world, including:

  • The Launchpad
  • The Lockaway
  • Belton’s Bore
  • The Food Court
  • Heart of the Mountain
  • Carcadia
  • Sumpview Falls
