Agatha All Along creator discusses differences between Marvel show and WandaVision

Fans are eagerly anticipating the comeback of Agatha Harkness in the highly anticipated Agatha All Along, but they should not simply anticipate another WandaVision.

Agatha All Along is the highly anticipated spin-off of WandaVision that centers around Agatha, a witch who cunningly manipulated Wanda in an attempt to steal her potent Chaos Magic.

Although Jac Schaeffer, the creator of both shows, wants fans to know that Agatha All Along will be different, she also wants them to know that they are not going to be disappointed. In an interview with Empire, Schaeffer revealed that the focus of the new show will be on the experiences of witches in the MCU.

“In a similar vein as WandaVision’s exploration of classic TV sitcoms, we also delve into subverting the common perceptions of witches,”Schaeffer explained to Empire. “We play around with the traditional visuals associated with witches and challenge their assumptions.”

Agatha All Along will explore the nature of witches in the MCU.

Despite not being directly responsible for the enslavement of Westview in WandaVision, Agatha Harkness was the first true iteration of a witch to be introduced in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She manipulated events in an attempt to break Wanda.

Despite Agatha’s best efforts, Wanda embraced her identity as the all-powerful Scarlet Witch and released the illusion she had created. As a result, Agatha found herself permanently trapped in her own illusion, with Wanda casting a spell to make her believe she was a suburban housewife named Agnes.

Despite Agatha being the clear villain in WandaVision, Schaeffer assures Empire that the story will not solely focus on the villain, stating, “We made sure that Agatha was not just a one-dimensional evil witch. Viewers will have the opportunity to see glimpses of her true heart throughout the series.”

We are still uncertain about Agatha’s plans for escaping her imprisonment and her motives in Agatha All Along. However, it is clear that her actions will be connected to the Scarlet Witch’s missing children, as evidenced by the casting of Heartstopper actor Joe Locke as an older version of Wanda’s son, Billy Kaplan, also known as the superhero Wiccan in the comics.

Disney+ will debut Agatha All Along on September 18. In the meantime, catch up on all the known Deadpool 3 cameos, check out the top new streaming movies this month, or keep an eye out for upcoming releases on Disney+.
