Players of Battlefield 2042 have eagerly awaited the introduction of a Server Browser and persistent servers since the game’s release, and DICE has recently announced that these highly anticipated features are officially in development.
The Server Browser is an integral feature for Battlefield enthusiasts, offering a comprehensive list of all active servers along with details such as player counts, ping, and more. This functionality allows players to select the server they wish to join directly.
Historically a staple of the Battlefield series, the Server Browser was notably absent in Battlefield 2042, forcing players to depend solely on the in-game matchmaking system to locate a consistent server. Despite considerable feedback, Battlefield 6 launched without this feature as well.
Instead, developers pointed players towards the Portal mode to find servers. However, it’s important to note that these portals consist of non-persistent player-created lobbies, which often lack player engagement.
Expected Arrival of the Server Browser in Battlefield 6
As we look forward to the upcoming Season 3 update in May, DICE has made it clear that the Server Browser and persistent servers are prioritized enhancements. However, they are not scheduled for release in Season 3. While a specific launch date remains undisclosed, DICE has assured players that these features will be introduced within the current year.

Season 3 is set to begin in May, followed by Season 4 in July, and Season 5 anticipated in the fall, likely around September or October. The addition of the Server Browser is expected to coincide with one of these major updates, with further details forthcoming.
In addition to the Server Browser, DICE is reintroducing multiplayer leaderboards and Platoons, a social feature that facilitates community building within the game. Players can join in-game groups, represented by unique tags, making it easier to connect with others for squad play.
While specific timelines for these features remain unclear, the imminent Season 3 update also promises the return of the beloved Golmud Railway map, alongside Battle Royale solo modes and additional content.
