On June 27th, the Supreme Court’s Division 3, led by Chief Judge Roh Jung-hee, upheld the lower court’s decision in favor of Chuu in her civil lawsuit against her former agency, Blockberry Creative. This ruling terminated her exclusive contract, resulting in Chuu’s victory in the case.
Despite ongoing conflicts with Blockberry Creative regarding profit settlements and other matters, Chuu ultimately chose to file a lawsuit against the company in December 2021 in order to terminate her contract.
Following this, in November 2022, Chuu was removed from her group LOONA by Blockberry Creative, who accused her of abusing her power. However, Chuu has refuted these claims and has provided evidence to prove her innocence.
The initial trial resulted in a ruling in Chuu’s favor, as the court stated that her entertainment activities from 2016 to September 2021 had generated a net profit of approximately 860 million won. However, due to the terms of her contract with Blockberry Creative regarding profit distribution, Chuu was unable to receive any settlement payments.
Jeon Hee-jin, Kim Lip, Jung Jin-sol, and Choerry, who were former members of LOONA, also emerged victorious in the initial trial of their lawsuit against Blockberry Creative’s binding agreements.
In April of last year, Chuu entered into an exclusive agreement with the recently established agency ATRP. Since then, she has been pursuing a successful career as a solo artist and making frequent appearances on various entertainment shows. On June 25th, she released her highly anticipated second mini-album, “Strawberry Rush,”and has been actively promoting it.
