We’ve had our first glimpse into the future of Warzone during the recent CoD Next event, but it appears that streamers and influencers are not entirely convinced by the proposed changes.
Each year heralds the launch of a new Call of Duty installment, consequently reinventing Warzone as well. The latest multiplayer iteration is set to merge with the battle royale, introducing an array of weapons, operators, and often, substantial gameplay modifications.
During CoD Next, developers showcased the Haven’s Hollow Resurgence map and outlined several adjustments related to movement and loadout configurations. However, the presentation was somewhat sparse regarding new content, particularly with the much-anticipated return of Blackout not scheduled until 2026.
Concerns from the Streaming Community
Following the stream’s conclusion, numerous Call of Duty content creators took to social media to voice their apprehensions about the direction Warzone seems to be taking.
JGOD shared his insights, stating, “While it’s exciting to receive a new resurgence map, the absence of significant updates until 2026, which is about seven months away, feels outrageous. Avalon is on the horizon, yet it’s not what we expected, featuring a Blackout-inspired mode without any engaging media to build anticipation.”
He further commented, “They’re essentially urging the community to trust in the quality of this update, though trust within the Warzone community has been quite fragile, ” expressing his concerns about the current state of the game.
CodNext is always a fun experience; the venues, events, creators, chatting with devs, working with the creative reps, …..and this year was no differentBUT inevitably everything comes down to the point of being there, which is to share gameplay/news about Call of Duty, while…

Although others appreciated the aesthetics and mechanics of Haven’s Hollow, JGOD was not alone in his lukewarm assessment. Another prominent streamer, TheTacticalBrit, expressed, “Warzone is virtually lifeless until Spring 2026; even then, it’s unclear if this Blackout experience will be worthwhile.”
Moreover, NICKMERCS critiqued the overall direction, claiming, “The large map feels much like the old Verdansk but with some recycled points of interest.” He added that Haven’s Hollow, the newly unveiled smaller map, largely revisits themes from previous Zombies remakes. He also lamented the decision to forgo the wall-jumping mechanic from Black Ops 7, deeming it a “significant oversight.”
As we look ahead to Warzone’s inaugural season of content, it seems that excitement might be lacking. However, for those eager to explore the multiplayer experience, the upcoming release appears to be promising. Don’t forget to check out our Black Ops 7 wiki to stay ahead in the game.
