After reports surfaced of 2NE1 holding an official meeting with YG Entertainment’s Yang Hyun Suk, Sandara Park spoke out about speculation surrounding a potential full comeback with the label.
Sandara Park, the main visual and member of 2NE1, made an appearance as a guest on the newest episode of SBS PowerFM’s “Cultwo Show”on June 28th.
The female star took the opportunity to personally address questions about the potential reunion comeback of 2NE1, following reports that YG had an official meeting with the four members on the 27th.
In the radio broadcast, Dara politely declined to divulge more information about the meeting at this time. However, she assured K-pop fans that they were making preparations to share good news in the near future.
She spoke:
“If I say anything, it will probably become the official position, so I have nothing to say. However, as a huge 2NE1 fan, I hope there will be good news.”
She expressed her affection and loyalty to the group, saying:
“I am a member of 2NE1, but I’ve always liked and admired the members since I was a trainee, and I’m still a huge fan to date. I have this thought that ‘There is no team like 2NE1 and there won’t be one in the future.’ That’s what I think so I am also waiting.”
This specifically refers to Dara’s perspective following recent reports that Yang Hyun Suk, CEO and executive producer of YG, had arranged a meeting with 2NE1 at the company’s new headquarters in Hapjeong-dong, Seoul.
On June 27, after an 8-year hiatus from the label, the group held their first reunion. Their conversation lasted for 2 hours, and it was reported that Yang warmly welcomed the four members. The discussions were described as meaningful and profound.
According to reports, Yang listened and took the quartet’s special requests into consideration. However, a concrete plan has not yet been developed.
This meeting between Director Yang and 2NE1 is particularly significant because it was an official meeting held during the members’ first visit to YG’s new building, rather than a private, external one.
