Discord Leak Reveals Plans for Incredibly Well Done Desktop App Rebrand

According to reports, Discord is currently in the process of rebranding its desktop app. While the rebranding is currently just a rumor, a leak has revealed the expected changes.

The leak, courtesy of WumpusCentral, a group of data miners on Discord, showcases three potential designs for the new Discord rebrand. The initial concept features a minimized Discord desktop client window with rounded corners, while the second concept displays the same window with a transparent appearance.

The third concept depicts the desktop app featuring user messages displayed in speech bubbles alongside messages on the right side of the screen. However, Discord’s rebrand has not been officially confirmed.

The research team for the app has not yet made a decision on which appearance to use. According to WumpusCentral, Discord has supplied their research group with materials for four different concept graphics and is seeking feedback on the impressions and “prestige”of each potential client appearance.

The leak of these concepts left Discord users feeling impressed. One X user commented, “I am speechless. These are extremely well-done and incredibly creative.”Another user expressed, “I love all of them except the third one, but the first and second truly capture my heart.”DoctorWarface, an X user, also chimed in with, “This looks amazing. I would definitely support this.”

The recent rebranding of Discord’s desktop app follows the company’s release of a mobile layout update in May 2024. The May update was intended to address the backlash from users over the controversial design change that was implemented in December 2023, replacing the old layout with a new one. The dissatisfaction with the change was so great that numerous Discord users canceled their Nitro subscriptions.

It remains uncertain when the changes to Discord’s desktop client will be implemented. As the information was leaked, it is possible that the changes may never come to fruition.
