Faker Criticizes T1 DDoS Attacks for ‘Undermining’ Competition in LoL

Faker has voiced his disapproval of the DDoS attacks that have been targeting T1, stating that they are “undermining”the competitive integrity of League of Legends. The coaches have also revealed the significant impact these attacks have had on both the players and the organization.

Despite ongoing efforts to address the issue, T1’s League of Legends team has continued to face consistent challenges due to DDoS attacks over the past year. In April, T1’s manager disclosed that these attacks have been occurring since December 2023 and have even had an impact on LCK games.

In June, T1 publicly criticized Riot Games for their actions, citing the team’s cancellation of streams and altered practice methods as reasons for their demand for action from the developers.

In the latest installment of T1’s series, “The Trophy Room”, Faker and the team coaches unveiled the complete scope of the DDoS attacks and their potential repercussions on the scene.

During one of our practice sessions, kkOma disclosed the complete scope of the attacks, stating that our entire IP network at the T1 HQ was targeted, hindering our ability to practice. These problems have had a considerable impact on the players’ well-being, affecting their overall performance.

Roach, another T1 coach, further expressed that the ongoing attacks have been causing significant stress to the players as they continue to experience frequent disconnections during their games.

According to Faker, it is essential for these concerns to be addressed as online streams and personal attacks continue to persist.

If not addressed, this issue could slowly diminish the worth of esports. Although this is worrisome, our main priority remains giving our best effort given the present situation.

In April, Rekkles disclosed the severity of the attacks, which not only impacted the main T1 players but also the academy team and even the Valorant squad who were at the HQ.

According to T1, the attacks are relentless to the point that their players are unable to SoloQ and maintain their sharpness, resulting in “significant financial consequences for our organization”. Riot has assured that they are actively seeking a resolution to these attacks.
