The landscape of Nintendo Switch piracy has taken a significant turn, with well-known websites for downloading ROMs now rendered inaccessible due to federal enforcement actions by the FBI.

Piracy continues to pose a formidable challenge for Nintendo, as it does for many players in the gaming industry. With the recent launch of the Nintendo Switch 2, the company has intensified its efforts to combat this ongoing issue. As of now, the popular piracy site Nsw2u has been officially seized, displaying a message upon access that reads, “This website has been seized.” Consequently, users can no longer utilize this platform to download free copies of Switch games.

The notice on the site indicated the seizure was executed by the FBI, following a warrant issued under 18 U. S.C.2323, authorized by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia. This legal action is part of a broader law enforcement initiative by the FBI.

The community’s response has been tangible, as players have taken to platforms like Reddit to express their disappointment, with one user lamenting, “R. I.P.‘NSW2U’ smh.”

Nintendo’s stringent policies regarding the use of the Switch 2 have made clear that violations, including the use of unauthorized accessories and pirated software, could lead to severe consequences, including permanent bans on accessing the eShop and online services.

Additionally, players have recently learned that inserting a used Switch 1 cartridge into the Switch 2 may result in adverse effects as well, further emphasizing the risks associated with piracy.
