On June 26, members of the K-pop girl group (G)I-DLE, MIYEON and SHUHUA, were involved in a dangerous situation while on the road when they were faced with a wrong-way driver. The incident was recorded and shared on YouTube, garnering widespread attention from both fans and the public.
The video captures MIYEON and SHUHUA on their journey to Gyeongju, with SHUHUA confidently driving the car. While navigating a narrow two-lane road, SHUHUA suddenly notices a vehicle approaching them in their lane.
The driver, while trying to pass a large truck, had entered the opposing lane of traffic, resulting in a hazardous scenario.
Despite the close call, SHUHUA’s quick reflexes allowed her to skillfully avoid a collision, narrowly avoiding disaster. MIYEON, who was sitting in the passenger seat, visibly shaken, exclaimed:
“A wrong-way driver? Are they serious?”
After carefully maneuvering around the reckless driver, SHUHUA turned to the camera with a worried look on her face and sternly stated, “That’s extremely hazardous. It’s important to never engage in such reckless behavior.”Her composed demeanor during the tense moment showcased her adept handling of the situation.
In the video’s comment section, fans voiced their anger towards the driver going the wrong way and applauded SHUHUA for her swift reaction and defensive driving abilities. Numerous comments flooded in, including:
- “That could have been a major accident if not for SHUHUA’s quick reactions. She’s truly skilled.”
- “Driving like that is reckless and selfish. SHUHUA did the right thing by staying calm.”
- “SHUHUA’s response shows how important safe driving is. The wrong-way driver needs to face consequences.”
- “SHUHUA handled it so well, without panicking. If she hadn’t slowed down, they all could have gotten seriously injured.”
- “That’s the same as attempted murder! Put the driver in jail!”
The release of “Super Lady”by (G)I-DLE has caused a stir with mixed reactions and allegations of plagiarism. On January 29, the song and its music video were released and were soon compared to popular artists such as T-ARA, 2NE1, BLACKPINK, Taylor Swift, and Red Velvet.
Despite investing a record 1.1 billion won into their comeback, which focused on themes of pride and women’s rights, the group has faced criticism for the song’s strong and vibrant arrangement, with some claiming it resembles other artists’ works in both music and visual elements.
Despite the final verse bearing resemblance to T-ARA’s “Sugar Free”and the music video’s sets and scenes evoking memories of BLACKPINK and Taylor Swift, there are notable similarities. These similarities have sparked concerns about the originality and potential impact on (G)I-DLE’s image.
