The recent Minecraft update, titled Mounts of Mayhem, has introduced an exciting new feature: the Nautilus mob. This creature allows players to dive into the oceanic world without concerns about oxygen supply. However, exploring these waters may lead to encounters with hostile mobs, where protecting your aquatic mount becomes crucial. To aid in this, Mojang has unveiled Nautilus armor.

Nautilus armor is designed similarly to standard player armor, providing your marine companions with enhanced durability against attacks. Each piece of armor comes in five distinct variants, differing in the level of protection they offer.

Acquiring Nautilus Armor in Minecraft

As of now, players cannot craft Nautilus armor. Instead, the only way to obtain these armor pieces is by scavenging loot chests located in specific structures throughout Minecraft:

  • Buried Treasure: These treasure chests are hidden beneath the ground and can be challenging to locate, even with a treasure map.
  • Ocean Ruins Chest: Found submerged in the ocean, these ruins are constructed from stone bricks and sandstone. By breaking certain blocks within these structures, players can reveal hidden loot chests.
  • Shipwreck Chests: Shipwrecks can appear both underwater and along coastlines, containing loot chests that may hold Nautilus armor.

Since crafting Nautilus armor is not an option, players will need to venture out for some exploration. Once you’ve acquired the armor and successfully tamed a Nautilus, equip it by right-clicking the creature while holding the armor. You’ll notice shield points appearing above its health bar once equipped, indicating the protection it now possesses.

Upgrading to Netherite Nautilus Armor

To obtain Netherite Nautilus armor, players cannot simply find it in loot chests. The process is similar to upgrading regular player armor to Netherite. Begin by locating a Smithing Upgrade Template and obtaining a Netherite ingot.

With these items in hand, approach a smithing table, open its interface, and place the Smithing Upgrade Template in the first slot, your Diamond Nautilus armor in the second, and the Netherite ingot in the third. This combination will yield a Netherite Nautilus armor piece, which you can add to your inventory. This upgrade not only enhances defense but also grants valuable knockback resistance.

  • Diamond Nautilus Armor: 11 points
