The Divine Beast Dancing Lion is a magnificent boss featured in the recent expansion of Elden Ring known as Shadow of the Erdtree. While it may be encountered as one of the initial bosses in the Realm of Shadow, unless one encounters the formidable Ghostflame Dragon, do not be daunted if you find yourself facing this graceful creature.
Location of the Divine Beast Dancing Lion
The tower settlement of Belurat is home to the Divine Beast Dancing Lion. Inside the Belurat legacy dungeon, you can find the boss resting in the theater area. This location is a crucial part of the main plotline and can be easily located using the nearby Belurat Site of Grace waypoint.
Instructions for beating the Divine Beast Dancing Lion in Elden Ring
To defeat the Divine Beast Dancing Lion, agility is key. Throughout this boss battle, it is crucial to maintain constant and quick movement. A helpful strategy is to attack at least twice while the Lion is stationary, then quickly retreat to a safer distance to avoid wasting attacks.
Regardless of what action the Lion takes, your safest option is to dodge to the side when the fight begins. This could include the Lion using a smoke attack or slowly approaching you.
At the beginning of the battle, the Dancing Lion has a limited number of attacks. It may attempt to bite your head off by pulling back and snapping its jaws a few times before leaping forward. To avoid this, quickly move forward as soon as the Lion jumps towards you.
The Lion’s go-to attack is a three-move combination in which it first rears back, then dives forward, spins, and dives forward again, before finishing with a powerful upward thrust. While the exact sequence may vary, this is the basic structure of the attack.
Regardless of which variation of the attack the Lion executes, all you need to do is dodge forward as soon as the beast begins to lunge. This will either interrupt the attack or, if it is completed, you will be out of the range of its reach.
The Dancing Lion also possesses a few debris attacks.
- If it releases dust and rocks, move to the side quickly to avoid them.
- If it splits into a single stream of debris, move to the side to avoid it.
- If the creature rises onto its hind legs, ejects debris, and rotates three times, quickly move backwards and flee to a safe distance.
During the battle, be careful not to approach the Dancing Lion while it is in motion, as this will cause the camera to become unstable.
During the battle, the Dancing Lion will transition to utilizing ice, lightning, and wind. It can be easily identified when it leaps into the air to assume any of these three elemental forms. This may prove to be challenging as the Lion will continually switch between the forms every 30 seconds.
The Lion’s lightning bolts are easily avoidable. However, it is important to avoid any residue, as lightning may strike in the same spot again.
The wind projectiles can cause significant harm if they make contact, but they can also be evaded easily by rolling to the side.
If the Lion begins to use ice spikes, simply leap over them. Being struck by a spike will result in frostbite, gradually decreasing your health throughout the duration of the battle.
During the brief intervals when you are not evading the Dancing Lion’s assaults, take the opportunity to strike the creature with melee weapons and spells.
In the final stage, while the Lion does not introduce any new attacks, the intensity increases significantly as it switches between elements at a faster pace than before.
The interval between attacks will be brief, so it is important to act quickly. This is an opportune moment to call upon a Spirit Ash as it will provide an additional distraction and give you a few extra seconds. Continue to attack aggressively until the Lion is defeated once and for all.
