The recent Sakurajima update for Palworld has brought in a new base material that can be used for crafting. This paragraph contains all the necessary information on how to locate, utilize, and refine Crude Oil.
Crude Oil is a recently discovered resource in Palworld, which players can utilize for crafting. Although it is possible to come across Crude Oil at the beginning of a new game, players will not be able to grind it or use it for crafting materials until they reach Technology Level 50 or higher.
Upon acquiring Crude Oil sustainably, players will gain the ability to craft Plasteel, which is currently considered one of the top materials for armor and weapons in the game.
Tips for Obtaining Crude Oil in Palworld

Obtaining Crude Oil involves defeating faction members, opening chests or caches, and mining with a Crude Oil Extractor at oil nodes.
Obtaining Crude Oil from defeated enemies or finding it in chests and caches is typically the first way players encounter this resource. However, this method is not always dependable and a significant amount of it will be necessary for crafting purposes.
How to use Crude Oil
In order to produce Plasteel, Crude Oil is required. Each unit of Plasteel requires five barrels of Crude Oil, and most armor requires 50 or more units of Plasteel. This can prove to be a challenging process if you do not have an extractor in operation.
Currently, there are no other recipes that require Crude Oil. However, this may be subject to change as Palworld continues to receive content updates in the future.
How to Farm Crude Oil in Palworld
Generator setup for Electricity
To efficiently farm Crude Oil in Palworld, it is recommended to construct a generator base. This was the approach we took in our playthrough, specifically in the earthy region of the recently added Sakurajima island.
Players will need to position their Crude Oil Extractors on this base, but they will also need to ensure that they have enough power to operate them as they require significant amounts of energy.
To ensure continuous movement, it is recommended to install one Large Generator and one Electric Pylon for each extractor. These generators require Electric-type Pals with strong charging abilities and can accommodate up to two Pals at a time.
At level 49, players can unlock the Ancient Technology of Large Generators by spending 4 Ancient Technology points. The Electric Pylon, a regular Technology blueprint, can be unlocked at level 48 for 2 Technology Points.
Ensure that the Pals left at this base have access to food, beds, and recreational items to ensure efficient functioning even in your absence.
