Does Kim Jaejoong still maintain a positive relationship with both JYJ and TVXQ?
The second-generation artist recently discussed his bond with Junsu as well as his past relationships with former group members Yoochun, Changmin, and Yunho.
To commemorate his 20th debut anniversary, K-pop icon JYJ and soloist Kim Jaejoong sat down with the Korean press for an interview on June 25.
Concurrently, he held a media conference to publicize his recently launched studio album, “FLOWER GARDEN,”which was revealed on June 26 to commemorate his significant achievement.
During the interview, Jaejoong openly discussed his past experiences as a member of TVXQ, including his current relationship with his former groupmates.
“Looking back, we have actually lived solo for much longer than we have done as a team. But when I saw how the members are doing now, I thought to myself, ‘Thank goodness they are all doing well.’
For example, Changmin has started a family, and when I see that, I think, ‘He’s creating his own happiness and self-worth.’ Everyone seems to be doing well, so when I look at them, I have this realization that ‘I shouldn’t fall behind and live diligently.”
During the discussion, Yoochun, who had been with him during their TVXQ days, was also brought up by the media. They left SM Entertainment and continued as a trio with Junsu.
Due to his past controversies, like his sexual assault allegations and illegal drug abuse, discussing him has been looked down upon in the past.
In 2019, C-Jes announced that Yoochun would be stepping away from the entertainment industry after his involvement in a drug scandal. He has since returned and is currently focusing on promoting overseas.
After many years, Jaejoong finally opened up about Yoochun and clarified that he had not been in touch with him since his controversies. When asked about their relationship, he replied:
“I don’t know where that guy (Yoochun) is or even which country he is in. I haven’t contacted him since (the drug incident).”
Although he had ended all ties with him, Jaejoong shared that he still carries a lot of regrets in his heart about the way things ended and he often reminisces about their cherished moments together.
“I have lamented a lot over him, too. From his perspective, he should be living diligently, too. He’s a painful memory to me and in fact, my heart aches a little.
In the past, when I talked about time machines, I would answer, ‘I like the present, so I won’t go.’
But if I am given a chance, I would like to go back to before that incident happened. I would like to talk (with him) properly one more time.”
Jaejoong went on:
“I don’t want to say this to those who love me as an individual, but to those who love me, including our past, you would know that our memories from that time are too precious and memories that I don’t want to erase.
As a person, don’t you want to see him living in a slightly better environment? We were like family, so it’s really regretful.”
