Joey Chestnut Takes Center Stage at Giants vs. Dodgers Game
On September 12, competitive eating champion Joey Chestnut transformed a highly anticipated Giants versus Dodgers baseball game into his own competitive arena by consuming an impressive 275 Impossible Chicken Nuggets throughout the nine innings.
Renowned primarily for his supremacy at the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest—where he famously devoured a staggering 76 hot dogs with buns in just 10 minutes—Chestnut has continuously expanded his accolades. Earlier this year, he triumphed at Canada’s World Poutine Eating Championship, polishing off over 20 pounds of poutine within a mere ten-minute span.
Making a dynamic return to competitive eating in 2025 after a year-long suspension from Nathan’s, which was caused by a sponsorship clash with Impossible Foods, Chestnut reaffirmed his position as the preeminent figure in the competitive eating world, even as new challenges emerge that test his remarkable endurance.

Impressive Eating Feats Amidst the Baseball Atmosphere
Chestnut aimed to consume 99 nuggets during the game but exceeded that goal with remarkable ease. By the end of the second inning, he had already surpassed the initial target and continued his incredible pace, surpassing the 150 mark by the third inning and ultimately concluding the event with a staggering total of 275 nuggets.
Equipped with an array of dipping sauces and cups of warm water, Chestnut tackled a portion of the 2, 000 nuggets provided by Impossible Foods for the occasion. His sole competitor was Jayson Toweh, a fan selected through a nationwide campaign. However, the competitive atmosphere was notably more relaxed compared to the high-stakes environment of Nathan’s on July 4.

Despite the extended duration of the baseball game posing its own set of challenges—such as fatigue in his throat muscles from hours of rapid swallowing—Chestnut noted that the flavorful nature of the nuggets made the task easier compared to more difficult marathon foods.
The Bay Area audience cheered as Chestnut added yet another extraordinary achievement to his illustrious career, which already features records like 141 hard-boiled eggs in eight minutes, 121 Twinkies in six minutes, and 45 pulled pork sandwiches in ten minutes. Now, Oracle Park boasts its own entry in the Chestnut’s record book: 275 nuggets consumed in nine innings.
