Lilah Gibney’s Response to Backlash Over Alex & Kouvr’s Wedding Vlog

TikTok sensation Lilah Gibney has responded to backlash from fans regarding her decision to post videos at fellow creators Alex and Kouvr’s wedding, despite the couple’s request for guests not to film.

On June 22, 2024, Kouvr Annon and Alex Warren, both social media stars and former members of Hype House, officially got married in a ceremony that left everyone in tears. The emotional event was captured in a touching video that can be found on YouTube.

Despite the excitement surrounding the newlyweds, several fans were disappointed when a guest and fellow TikToker shared a vlog of her time at the wedding before the couple had the opportunity to do so.

The audience also noticed a sign that the couple had created specifically for the occasion, stating, “We kindly request that you fully engage in our ceremony by turning off all cell phones and cameras.”

Lilah Gibney, a well-known influencer on TikTok, is currently receiving an overwhelming amount of criticism from commenters for her content in her vlogs.

“One viewer noted, ‘There was a sign at the event that literally said unplugged.’”

“Shouldn’t they be the first to share THEIR wedding, or am I crazy?”another person questioned.

Another person pointed out, “Wouldn’t it be appropriate for Kouvr and Alex to be the first ones to post a YouTube video?”

The situation intensified when the couple expressed their support for a TikTok user’s criticism of people who vlog at someone else’s wedding, stating, “a wedding should be treated as a special occasion, not a tourist attraction.”

“Warren commented that this is a highly VALID opinion.”

Kouvr added, “Period.”

In response to the significant backlash, Gibney released a video on June 25 to address the situation. In the video, she apologized to the newlyweds and shared her perspective on the matter.

“I want to clarify that I did not travel for three hours solely to record their vows or to show any disrespect to anyone,”she stated. “If anyone, including Kouvr and Alex, thought that was my intention, I sincerely apologize from the bottom of my heart. That was not my intent.”

“My intention in creating a charming VHS video of what I believe to be the most stunning wedding was to bring joy to others. This is my sincere way of expressing love and affection.”

Additionally, Gibney asserted that there were no visible indications forbidding photography at the wedding, a statement that is being vehemently refuted by numerous viewers in the comments section.

“I was never given any impression or word from anyone, nor was there ever a speech made,”she stated. “I apologize for not being aware of it.”

Despite her efforts to explain, many commenters still do not seem to agree with her way of expressing affection to the couple by creating a vlog to capture the moment. She concluded her response by expressing sadness over the fact that viewers were unable to understand her intentions.

“One viewer wrote that there was a lack of accountability shown in this video. They also stated that Kouvr is superior to them as they would have reacted with insanity.”

“Another person stated that this is the definition of saying ‘Sorry, but I’m not sorry’.”

After their marriage earlier this year, it only took a few months for internet-famous couple Dan and Lucy to go their separate ways, making their wedding drama the newest to gain viral attention on TikTok.
