For avid gamers wishing to experience Destiny 2 across multiple devices, the introduction of cross-saves and progression significantly enhances gameplay flexibility.

Bungie’s acclaimed looter-shooter captivates players year after year, primarily driven by the enticing pursuit of powerful gear and countless collectibles. However, with an ever-expanding roster of weapons and cosmetic items, managing your inventory and Vault can become overwhelming—especially if you juggle multiple characters across various platforms.

In response to persistent player demand, Bungie finally rolled out the much-anticipated cross-save feature with the release of the Shadowkeep expansion in 2019.

Understanding Cross Progression in Destiny 2

Cross progression in Destiny 2 enables players to link their various gaming platforms to a single Bungie.net account. By doing so, Guardians can select one primary account that will synchronize their progress and inventory across PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Do note that as of January 18, 2023, the game is no longer available on Google Stadia.

It’s crucial to understand that players cannot merge Guardians or gear on different platforms. As stated in Bungie’s FAQ, “Cross save enables users to connect accounts used for playing on different platforms and select one as the Active Account. Only those Guardians associated with that Active Account can be played across all linked platforms.”

Only the three Guardians designated on the chosen Active Account qualify for cross progression. It’s also worth mentioning that in-game purchases, such as expansions and Silver currency, do not transfer between different platforms using cross-save.

Before activating cross-save, keep in mind that if you decide to disable the feature, you will be unable to reactivate cross-progression for 90 days. Therefore, it’s important to contemplate your decision carefully.

To get started with cross-save in Destiny 2, you’ll first need to create a Bungie.net account and have your login credentials on hand for each platform you want to link. Once prepped, you can proceed to activate cross-save on your account.

How to Enable Cross Save for Destiny 2

Ready to set up cross-save? Follow these steps to seamlessly integrate your accounts:

  1. Log into your account on Bungie.net.
  2. Select the ‘Cross Save’ option from your account menu.
  3. Link any new platforms that are not already connected to your Bungie.net account (make sure you have the necessary login information).
  4. Re-authenticate existing platforms that were previously linked (this also requires re-entering your credentials).
  5. Choose which platform and characters you want to carry over across linked platforms, and confirm your selection.

Once you’ve reviewed your settings and completed the setup, you should receive a confirmation message stating ‘Cross Save Activated’. With this, you’re now equipped to log onto any linked platform and engage with your chosen Guardians.
