On July 16, significant nerfs struck two of the most lethal weapons in Warzone, the TR2 and DM-10, effectively sidelining them from the current combat landscape.
Throughout Season 4 and Season 4 Reloaded, players favored the TR2 and DM-10 due to their superior time-to-kill (TTK) capabilities, even as various Assault Rifles maintained their popularity. These Marksman Rifles became the top choices for many gamers, largely attributed to their swift kill potential.
Prior to this update, the DM-10 had already faced a minor nerf on July 8, but it remained a formidable choice when wielded by skilled players. The TR2 was particularly notable as it was hailed as the swiftest killer in the game, provided players could expertly manage its semi-automatic firing rate. However, the latest changes indicate a dramatic shift in the weapon landscape.
The Fall of TR2 & DM-10 in the Warzone Meta
In the July 16 patch, both Marksman Rifles were subjected to significant damage reductions. The maximum damage for the DM-10 was altered from 63 to 78, while the TR2 saw a drop from 59 to 45. Furthermore, both weapons experienced reduced minimum damage outputs, losing 10 and 14 damage respectively.
The nerfs extended beyond just damage; the TR2’s bullet velocity, aim-down-sight (ADS) speed, and sprint-to-fire speed have all diminished, making it less forgiving in various combat scenarios.
Though these adjustments may sound impactful, their implications are evident when assessing the altered TTK for both firearms. Recent data shared by CODMunity showcased stark comparisons, indicating that both the TR2 and DM-10 have fallen far behind leading Assault Rifles in terms of TTK performance.

According to the analysis, the Cypher, Grau, and FFAR 1 now exhibit superior kill times across all ranges, with the DM-10 lagging approximately 400 milliseconds behind up to around 40 meters. The TR2, while still somewhat viable, doesn’t regain competitiveness until past 65 meters; even then, its TTK of 900 milliseconds is slower than most meta Assault Rifles, which clock in closer to 850 milliseconds.
While individual skill can still yield potent results with any weapon when players land their shots and choose engagement times wisely, the meta has clearly tilted back towards fully automatic Assault Rifles.
The community reaction has been mixed, with some players celebrating the decline of the TR2, while others have described the nerf as “stupid” and expressed concerns that the meta feels “boring.”
Looking ahead, Warzone Season 5 is set to launch on August 7, bringing with it another round of adjustments that may reinvigorate these previously favored weapons and ensure a more dynamic gameplay experience.
