McDonald’s Museum Goes Viral on TikTok

If you are interested in delving into McDonald’s extensive history, you may want to consider visiting the original museum where the chain first began.

In a viral video with over 200,000 views, Norbert, a popular TikToker known for sharing hidden tourist spots, gave a glimpse of the world’s first unofficial McDonald’s museum.

Despite not being a traditional museum, this location is situated at the original McDonald’s restaurant that opened in the 1940s. Located in San Bernardino, California, it has a unique appearance compared to other McDonald’s establishments.

In the video, it is evident that the McDonald’s establishment is not functioning as a typical restaurant. Instead, it has been transformed into a comprehensive museum, featuring life-size sculptures of familiar characters such as Ronald McDonald and the Hamburglar.

Kinda Interesting Things 136: The Original Site of the First McDonald’s In San Bernardino, California, you’ll come across this McDonald’s that looks a little different. And that’s because this is the unofficial McDonald’s museum located at the original site of the first McDonald’s. Created by the late Albert Okura — founder of the Juan Pollo restaurant chain — the museum features all things McDonald’s from old school happy meal toys, to limited edition memorabilia, to old play place attractions and statues. They also have original McDonald’s employee outfits, restaurant fixtures, and signed props from the 2016 movie The Founder. It’s a time machine, with little reminders of lost childhood memories. Even though it gives off uncanny valley vibes, there’s a charm that runs through the place. The museum is completely free of charge, but you’re welcome to donate whatever you like.

The museum boasts an extensive collection of McDonald’s memorabilia, which includes news articles, photographs, menus, straws, cups, an antique ketchup dispensing gun, a vintage McDonald’s menu, and various other items.

The museum also showcases Happy Meal toys from the past, allowing visitors to browse through nostalgic items from their youth such as Sonic video games and the highly sought-after McNugget buddies.

Additionally, the museum houses vintage employee workwear, providing the opportunity to see the evolution of the brand’s uniform throughout various decades.

The McDonald’s museum is available for public viewing every day of the week from 10 am to 5 pm. If you happen to be passing by, be sure to stop and visit.

Another McDonald’s location that is gaining attention on social media in June is the first-ever McDonald’s McMansion. A TikToker recently shared a video of her visit to this unique establishment on the platform.
