In a highly anticipated announcement, the August edition of Shueisha’s Jump SQ. Magazine revealed that the second half of the popular manga Moriarty the Patriot (Yūkoku no Moriarty), written by Ryōsuke Takeuchi and illustrated by Hikaru Miyoshi, will begin serialization in the magazine’s January 2025 issue, set to be released on December 4, 2024. This announcement has caused great excitement and anticipation among fans.
The manga’s second part will resume after a two-year hiatus, following the conclusion of the ‘Valley of Fellows’ arc in December 2022. This pivotal arc was named after Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s fourth and final Sherlock Holmes novel, ‘The Valley of Fear,’ and marked a significant turning point in the story.

In August 2016, Takeuchi and Miyoshi collaborated to bring the manga to life in Jump SQ. magazine. Their combined efforts, with Takeuchi’s storyboards and Miyoshi’s artistry, resulted in a captivating and one-of-a-kind storyline. The manga’s popularity was further cemented when a television anime premiered in October 2020, followed by the second half in April 2021. The 24-episode show, a reflection of the manga’s success, was warmly received by both fans and critics for its engaging storytelling and high-quality animation. Funimation streamed the anime as it aired in Japan and also provided an English dub for viewers.
Miyoshi’s manga adaptation of Yōsuke Saita’s Moriarty the Patriot novels, titled Yūkoku no Moriarty: The Remains, concluded on July 4, 2024. The eagerly awaited third and final volume of the manga will be released by Shueisha on August 2, 2024, much to the excitement of many fans.
About Moriarty the Patriot
The series has released ten compiled volumes and served as the inspiration for an anime that premiered in October 2020.
The narrative takes place during Britain’s Golden Age in the 19th century and centers on William James Moriarty, the second son of the Moriarty family and a budding mathematics professor. He leads a modest life as a nobleman, residing with his brothers Albert and Louis.
Even outside of school, William is notorious for being a criminal consultant who will stop at nothing to bring about his vision of “a new world”that rises from the ruins of the old one.
