It appears that Bethesda is not only rumored to be developing a remastered version of Fallout 3 but is also engaged in several other projects within the beloved post-apocalyptic Fallout franchise. While the company has primarily confirmed its focus on the upcoming Elder Scrolls installment, Fallout enthusiasts may have reasons to be optimistic.
In 2023, leaked documents from ZeniMax, Bethesda’s parent company, hinted at the development of Oblivion Remastered. Despite initial skepticism from the gaming community, this project came to fruition and was successfully launched in April 2025. This modernization, in collaboration with Virtuous Studios, was met with enthusiastic approval from fans.

Evidence of Fallout 3 Remaster alongside Oblivion Remastered was found in leaked ZeniMax documents from 2023.
Developments in Multiple Fallout Projects
Recently, during the Friends Per Second podcast, VGC’s Jordan Middler discussed the upcoming projects in light of the July 2025 Xbox layoffs. He stated, “There are multiple Fallout projects in development, including that one you’re all wanting.”
Although Middler refrained from specifying which games are in development, his comments raise intrigue regarding potential remasters of popular titles such as Fallout 3 and New Vegas. He did caution that any upcoming projects are not sufficiently advanced to provide a firm release timeframe, indicating that players might need to wait some time before they can expect any concrete news or gaming experiences.
If it turns out that Fallout 3’s remaster has been actively developed for a while now, it might suggest that New Vegas could be the next title in line for an update, albeit still at an early stage of production. This aligns with Middler’s remarks regarding the uncertainty surrounding imminent releases.
In the event that these anticipated projects do not materialize, Fallout fans can still look forward to the second season of Amazon’s adaptation of the franchise, which is set to premiere later this year.
