Mushoku Tensei season 2: Where does the anime leave off in the manga and light novel?

Despite its bittersweet ending, Mushoku Tensei season 2 aired its final episode on July 1, 2024. However, the story is far from over as the 26th and final volume of the original light novel series was just released earlier this year on January 31st, 2024.

Despite the confirmation of Mushoku Tensei season 3, it is clear that there is much more to be told in Rudeus Greyrat’s story. The 24th episode of Mushoku Tensei season 2 concludes with fully covering the events of the 12th volume of the light novel series. Meanwhile, the manga is still lagging behind the latest plot developments of the anime. Keep reading this article to find out more.

As previously stated, the second season of Mushoku Tensei concludes in Volume 12 of the original light novel written by Rifujin no Magonote. This volume focuses entirely on the Labyrinth Arc. However, the most recent volume of the manga adaptation covers the Newlyweds Arc, which is two volumes behind the original source material.

Fans of the manga will have to patiently wait for a few more months to pick up where season 2 of Mushoku Tensei left off. However, those who are eager to continue the story can start reading from the 13th volume of the light novel, which also marks the beginning of the Young-man Period. The first season of the anime covers the first six volumes while the second season covers the next six, ending with volume 12.

Despite lacking confirmation, it is likely that the third season will continue the trend and adapt volumes 13 to 18. These upcoming arcs are some of the most captivating in the series, such as the Human God Arc and the Asura Kingdom Arc.

The 13th volume mainly centers on the next chapter of Rudeus’ life as he begins to adjust to fatherhood and his roles as both husband to Sylphie and Roxy. The volume also features the marriage of Roxy and Rudeus, which is also uncovered in the final episode of the second season.

Fans will be pleasantly surprised to learn that one of the most controversial characters will be making a return from their absence, promising to deliver an exciting treat. Furthermore, Turning Point 4 is set to be the biggest highlight, intensifying the plot and adding even more excitement.
