On Wednesday, June 26, 2024, My Hero Academia launched a temporary collaboration event with Asphalt 9: Legends. This event includes exclusive cars, races, and other content inspired by the popular anime and manga series. The collaboration will be available from today, June 26, until Wednesday, July 17, 2024 and will offer a range of free-to-play and purchasable items for players to acquire.
The collaboration with My Hero Academia, spanning 22 days, will showcase well-known and beloved characters from the series including the main protagonist Izuku “Deku”Midoriya and Katsuki Bakugo. Although the collaboration also includes a character representing the series’ villains, Himiko Toga, the majority of the characters featured are heroic and virtuous.
Emotes, Car Decals, and More to Unlock in My Hero Academia x Asphalt 9 Collaboration
The My Hero Academia x Asphalt 9 collection offers a variety of collectibles, including both free-to-play and purchasable items for fans. The collection features a total of 18 cosmetic items, beginning with two animated car decals based on Deku and Bakugo. These are followed by six static decals featuring Dark Deku (in his vigilante outfit), Ochaco Uraraka, Shoto Todoroki, Tsuyu Asui, Himiko Toga, and a “Group Decal”potentially showcasing all of these characters.
There are a total of eight chibi emotes and two club icons included in the collaboration. While no additional information has been released at the time of writing, it can be assumed that the chibi emotes will represent each of the eight characters and costumes in the collaboration. The club icons are expected to feature artwork and identifiers for both heroes and villains.
The event will consist of 19 stages of collaboration, with each stage offering rewards such as the Dark Deku decal mentioned above and others. As the first reward for Stage 1, participants will receive a free Dark Deku decal. Additionally, the collaboration will introduce a customized user interface and feature English dubbed voice lines from characters in the anime series.
Gameloft Barcelona developed and published Asphalt 9: Legends, a 2018 racing game and the fifteenth major release in the Asphalt series. It is compatible with various platforms including Android, iOS, PC, MacOS, and next-gen consoles. The upcoming Asphalt Legends Unite update, set to release on July 17, was announced by Gameloft and coincides with the conclusion of the aforementioned collaboration.
The original manga series, created, written, and illustrated by Kohei Horikoshi, was first published in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in July 2014. It has been consistently serialized there and is currently in its final arc. In a recent message to fans, Horikoshi confirmed that the series will conclude with its final chapter on Monday, August 5, 2024. As of the writing of this article, there has been no announcement of a sequel to the series.
