At Anime Expo 2024, numerous premieres have occurred, but one in particular has left viewers struggling to articulate their thoughts about the experience.
Dandadan is poised to be one of the most highly anticipated anime releases of the year. The popular manga, which follows two high school students as they team up to debunk each other’s paranormal theories, is being adapted by Science Saru.
The first three episodes of the anime show were shown at Anime Expo 2024, and they received a strong reaction. Attendees are raving about the series, claiming it surpasses their expectations set by the trailers.
“I was left speechless by the premiere of Dandadan. I screamed in excitement until I lost my voice. It exceeded everyone’s expectations,”according to a tweet from a user on X/Twitter.

The footage revealed so far displays Dandadan as a visually captivating project, utilizing a variety of colors and styles to portray its eccentric scenarios. The main characters hold opposing beliefs, with one believing in ghosts but not aliens, and the other believing in aliens but not ghosts. As the story progresses, they come to realize the existence of both ghosts and aliens.
This is achieved through a series of ever-changing and unpredictable experiences, providing a platform for a studio like Science Saru to showcase their abilities. Fūga Yamashiro, in his most ambitious project yet, is directing the adaptation.
Despite facing tough competition from Solo Leveling, which premiered earlier this year, and the highly anticipated Demon Slayer Season 4, Dandadan is still a strong contender for the title of best anime of 2024 and is sure to give them a run for their money.
Dandadan is scheduled to be released in October, preceded by a short theatrical run on September 13, 2024.
