During the 2024 Go Fest celebrations, trainers of Pokemon Go will have the opportunity to obtain specific Legendaries and Ultra Beasts (UBs) with unique backgrounds. However, this unexpected catch has left fans feeling dissatisfied.
Up until this point, only players who attended in-person events were able to obtain Pokemon from Raids with special location backgrounds. However, the latest announcement reveals that all players will now have the opportunity to access this feature.
The Pokemon Go community has not taken this well, as they voiced their disapproval in the comments section of a Reddit post sharing the announcement.

Some players expressed concern over the uncertainty of obtaining the items and felt that it should have been guaranteed. One player even raised the concern that the game may resort to simply rehashing old content with a new background as a form of new content.
This led to users trolling Niantic by suggesting that the developers are simply avoiding the issue of running out of Pokemon by incorporating these backgrounds as exclusive attractions.
Despite the cool backgrounds, fans who attended in-person events dismissed the background update, with one saying, “They may be cool, but they ultimately serve no purpose. I haven’t even looked back at the ones I received at Go Fest London last year.”
A considerable number of fans have high expectations for the inclusion of these backgrounds on fan-favorite Legendaries such as Necrozma, Solgaleo, and Lunala, as well as the numerous Ultra Beasts featured in the upcoming Inbound from Ultra Space event. However, even they agree that these backgrounds should not be used as incentives for future events.
It is important to remember that the Inbound from Ultra Space Timed Research does not provide free Ultra Beast encounters with these backgrounds. The encounters are limited to those caught from Raids only.
A trainer responded to this by sarcastically commenting that obtaining the background would be as difficult as the 1 in 64 odds mentioned in Pokemon Go’s blogs for acquiring event exclusives.
