The recently released Shadow of Erdtree DLC brings a plethora of new weapons and items to the game, including the highly coveted Rakshasa’s Greatsword. With its striking crimson hue and impressive design, this weapon is sure to become a fan favorite among those who have a penchant for katanas and find them to be exceptionally cool.
Obtaining it is no simple task. In fact, it wouldn’t be found in Elden Ring if it were. To obtain it, one must first defeat its original owner and be rewarded with it.
1. How to obtain Rakshasa’s Greatsword in Elden Ring Shadow of Erdtree?
To obtain the Rakshasa’s Katana, one must defeat Rakshasa, a mini-boss found in the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum southeast of the Shadow Keep Main Gate Plaza site of grace and east of Moorth Ruins site of grace.
The only path leading to the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum is through the Scadu Altus region, accessible from the Main Gate Plaza. Therefore, prior knowledge of the Shadow Keep region is necessary, as attempting the journey without it may prove to be challenging.
2. Reaching Scadu Altus from the Shadow Keep
To arrive at the intended destination, you must initially navigate to the Scadu Altus region through the concealed passageway of Shadow Keep.
Begin at the Shadow Keep Main Gate Plaza and turn left to pass through two small gate entrances. You will soon arrive at a grand hall-like space, where a set of wooden stairs is affixed to the right wall.
Ascend the staircase to reach the dining hall. Proceed through the hall and head east on the roof.
A ladder is located on the left side of the roof. Use this ladder to descend.
To find another ladder, turn right and go under the waterfall. Continue down by using this ladder. Upon reaching the bottom, turn left and run down the corridor.
To reach Scadu Altus, continue walking ahead after taking down the wall on the right. Eventually, you will find a stone platform resembling a coffin. Climb into it to be teleported to Scadu Altus.
3. Finding Rakshasa and the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum
As you approach this unfamiliar territory, continue south until you reach a waterfall. From there, follow the left cliff and switch to the right when the left side becomes impassable.
Continue to trail the cliff and you will eventually arrive at a ledge adorned with sizable tombstones mounted horizontally. Use these tombstones as your guide to descend.
After descending, head north and continue along the path that runs through the valley. Eventually, you will come across a small stone structure known as the Eastern Nameless Mausoleum at the end of the stream.
Upon entering, you will come across Rakshasa. Overcome him and obtain the Katana.
4. Does Rakshasa’s Katana have any benefits in Elden Ring?
Rakshasa’s Katana is considered the top greatsword in the Elden Ring due to its unmatched physical damage (155) and critical hit rate (100). Its extended length enables players to strike opponents from a safe distance, granting them the ability to swiftly evade incoming attacks.
Despite its potential, this weapon may not be suitable for the majority of players due to its bulky nature. Its weight can significantly slow down the player’s movement, causing frustration for many. However, if we can overlook this minor flaw, Rakshasa’s Katana has the potential to be a valuable asset for players.
