The Elder Scrolls Oblivion Remastered Officially Unveiled

Bethesda has finally made a highly anticipated announcement: The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now officially available for players. This remake of the beloved RPG is set to enchant both newcomers and veterans alike.

For weeks, the impending release of Oblivion Remastered had been the talk of the gaming community, despite Bethesda’s quiet demeanor regarding the upgraded version of the classic game from 2006. Persistent dataminers confidently suggested a launch was on the horizon, and numerous leaked images only heightened the excitement.

Now, after much speculation, the time has come for fans to delve back into Cyrodiil, as the game has been stealthily launched.

Oblivion Remastered: A Surprise Release from Bethesda

On April 22, Bethesda unveiled Oblivion Remastered during a live stream, concluding with the thrilling announcement that the game is available for Xbox Series X/S and PC. While a PlayStation 5 version is also indicated to arrive “today, ”it is not yet visible on the PS5 store.

The game is priced at $50, which is slightly lower than typical AAA titles, a fitting approach considering its nearly two-decade history.

For Xbox Game Pass subscribers, the good news continues: Oblivion Remastered is included in the service’s library at no additional cost, allowing fans to revisit the iconic world of Tamriel without any extra expense.

The remake significantly enhances the original experience, revitalizing its visual fidelity and gameplay mechanics. One of the most striking improvements is its graphical upgrades: the game has been entirely rebuilt to meet modern-day standards, showcasing revamped lighting, textures, character models, and animations. This transformation renders the vast world of Cyrodiil more stunning and immersive than ever before, with every item meticulously recreated from the ground up.

In addition to visuals, several key systems have received essential updates. The leveling system now mirrors the approach seen in Skyrim, reflecting advancements in gameplay design. New features such as sprinting have been introduced, which were absent in the original version.

Originally released in 2006, Oblivion was a massive achievement for the Elder Scrolls franchise, selling approximately 9.5 million copies — more than double the 4 million units sold by Morrowind. However, it was Skyrim, launched in 2011, that brought the series to unprecedented heights, with over 60 million copies sold worldwide.
