On June 28th, Pledis Entertainment, the agency for TWS, expressed their frustration regarding the accusations of chart manipulation and declared their intent to pursue legal measures.
Despite receiving positive responses on global album charts and ranking high in the iTunes “Top Albums”chart in 13 countries and regions, including Turkey, the Netherlands, the Philippines, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, TWS’s second mini-album “SUMMER BEAT”, released on June 24th, was met with accusations of chart manipulation on various online communities, sparking a range of reactions from netizens.
Despite some netizens agreeing with the accusations and questioning the sudden rise in the charts, others praised TWS and their work, noting their popularity in China and the quality of their song.
Despite the baseless rumors of chart manipulation surrounding the release of their latest song, Pledis Entertainment made the decision to take legal action in order to protect the rights of their artists.
The agency stressed the importance of conducting real-time monitoring to detect and record any malicious posts or comments that aim to discredit the artist with unverified rumors. Moreover, they have taken further action by filing complaints with an investigative agency based on reports from fans.
They clarified, “We are addressing the issue of groundless rumors surrounding TWS’s album and digital song sales, and have included these posts and comments in our complaints. We want to make it clear that these rumors are false and we are taking decisive action against them.”
In the meantime, TWS, SEVENTEEN’s younger brother group, made their debut earlier this year and quickly rose to fame with their hit single “plot twist”.
