Ubisoft boss confirms multiple Assassin’s Creed remakes are planned

During a discussion about the future of Assassin’s Creed, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot stated that they are currently working on multiple remakes.

Currently, the only mainline entry in the Assassin’s Creed series that is not easily accessible on modern hardware is 2007’s Assassin’s Creed. In fact, even the often overlooked AC Rogue was given a remaster for PS4 and Xbox One consoles in March 2018.

Speculation has suggested that remakes of popular titles such as the original Assassin’s Creed and Black Flag may be in the works. However, Ubisoft has remained tight-lipped about these potential projects until recently.

During an interview with Ubisoft News, the CEO Yves Guillemot discussed the future of the franchise and stated that players can look forward to some remakes.

The executive did not disclose which installments would be receiving the remake treatment, but he did hint that these projects would provide an opportunity to update and modernize some of their previous games. He also mentioned that there are still incredibly rich worlds in some of their older Assassin’s Creed games.

Guillemot’s remarks solidify the fact that there are plans to give numerous AC adventures a fresh update in the coming years.

The specific role that the Assassin’s Creed remakes will play in Ubisoft’s plans for Animus hub, also known as AC Infinity, is still unclear.

According to an interview with Game File in June 2024, Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Côté stated that the initial games released on the launcher will be Assassin’s Creed Shadows and Codename Hexe.
