What is Mutation Resurgence & Buy Back in Warzone?

The arrival of new LTMs in Warzone Season 4 Reloaded can be attributed to a DNA bomb blast in Urzikstan. The Mutation Resurgence and Mutation Buy Back modes involve players being exposed to the hazardous green sludge that has spread throughout Popov Power.

All the information you need to know about the new modes, including all seven mutations and their impact on gameplay, can be found here.

Mutation Modes Explained

Players will experience the return of Mutation Resurgence and Mutation Buy Back as they land near the recently demolished Popov Power POI on Urzikstan. The rules for Resurgence and Buy Back remain the same as usual.

The ground loot in this mode does not include Tacticals, Lethals, or Equipment. Instead, these items are substituted with Mutations effects, which can modify your Operator’s actions.

All Mutations

  • Bioshield creates a shielded bubble that shields you from incoming damage while still allowing you to shoot from within.
  • The move Divebomb involves launching into the air and then diving down towards a specific target. When the dive makes contact, it causes damage to any enemies in the vicinity and forces them backwards.
  • Mutant Leap allows you to perform a charged jump that can cover vast distances.
  • The Toxic Stim Cloud ability creates a noxious cloud that harms enemies and increases the movement speed of your squad for a brief period of time.
  • The Sludge Sling ability allows you to throw sludge grenades that burst into a poisonous gas cloud upon impact. This gas gradually weakens and harms enemies.
  • The Mutant Cloak allows you to temporarily become partially invisible. While cloaked, you will still leave behind green footprints.
  • Mutant Vision allows for a brief period of time to see enemies highlighted in red through walls.

Mutations can be obtained by players through Loot Caches in the form of syringes. It is important to note that effects from the same category cannot be combined. When encountering a mutation, players will be able to identify the specific effect they will receive, as the name is displayed on the item.

The concept of mutation has extended to MW3 materials in Season 4 Reloaded, so if you want to see it in action in multiplayer, be sure to try out the Mutation mode.
