Why the My Hero Academia ending could see Eijiro Kirishima, Momo Yaoyorozu, and more of the developed cast getting left behind

The conclusion of My Hero Academia is fast approaching, with only five chapters left in the confirmed epilogue arc. As a result, main characters such as Deku, Shoto Todoroki, Katsuki Bakugo, and Ochako Uraraka are either currently receiving or will soon have dedicated chapters. However, characters like Eijiro Kirishima and Momo Yaoyorozu are likely to receive less attention in the remaining chapters.

The focus of this epilogue arc would be on that.

Despite not being as prominent as characters like Katsuki Bakugo or Shoto Todoroki, Eijiro Kirishima and Momo Yaoyorozu were still significantly involved in the story throughout multiple arcs and therefore deserve recognition.

The recently leaked Chapter 426 of the manga primarily centers on the Todoroki family, providing a conclusion to their storyline in the series. While the fandom has generally responded positively to this plot, there is also a sense of unease as it has been confirmed that the epilogue arc will continue for approximately five more chapters.

The presence of characters such as Deku, All Might, Ochako Uraraka, Himiko Toga, Spinner, and Katsuki Bakugo could easily dominate entire chapters. Additionally, any scene involving Tomura Shigaraki in any capacity could also become a central focus.

As a result, there is a limited amount of material remaining to be explored for Momo Yaoyorozu and Eijiro Kirishima, as well as other characters like Tenya Iida, Denki Kaminari, and Jiro Kyoka. If these characters do not receive proper closure, it could potentially leave some fans feeling dissatisfied.

While it may be true that Bakugo and Shoto are more prominent characters in the story, it cannot be denied that the other characters have also played significant roles in various arcs. For instance, Iida was a close friend of Deku’s from the beginning and Kirishima had a crucial role during the Overhaul arc. Therefore, it would be unjust to disregard them in the epilogue.

The problems of having a big cast

Despite receiving praise for various aspects, My Hero Academia has faced criticism for its large cast of characters. This has resulted in some characters being neglected or lacking development, a persistent issue since the story’s inception.

Undoubtedly, Momo, Iida, and Kirishima could be considered prime examples of this negative trend. Although their character arcs were initially given significant attention, they eventually became overshadowed. Certain fans have even suggested that a reduction in the number of characters could have resulted in a more tightly woven and coherent narrative, taking all aspects into account.

Final Thoughts

Despite the extensive content that the epilogue of My Hero Academia needs to address, there is a high possibility that characters like Jiro, Momo, Iida, and Kirishima may not receive as much focus. This is a common occurrence in anime series with a large ensemble cast.
