On Thursday, June 27, 2024, the production for season 2 of Wind Breaker was officially announced following the airing of the thirteenth and final episode of the first season on the same day. The announcement was made through a promotional video for the series, which also revealed that the highly popular Spring 2024 anime will be followed by the release of its sequel in the general 2025 calendar year.
Despite being approximately 15 seconds long, the promotional video for Wind Breaker season 2 lacks significant information. It mainly showcases scenes and dialogue from season 1 and concludes with a basic logo for the upcoming season, followed by the confirmation of its release window. As of writing this article, no additional details have been revealed about season 2 of Wind Breaker.
Season 2 of Wind Breaker Confirmed in Latest Series Preview
Along with the announcement, Crunchyroll announced that Wind Breaker season 2 will be available for streaming in more than 200 countries and territories globally. The anime’s first season has been streaming on Crunchyroll weekly as it aired in Japan, and an English dub has also been produced and streamed for the series. It can be assumed that the same will be done for Wind Breaker season 2.
On April 4, 2024, the first season debuted on 28 MBS/TBS stations as part of the Super Animeism TURBO programming block. Before its official release, the series held an early screening event at Shinjuku Wald 9 on March 31, 2024, which was attended by several cast members.
The initial installment was helmed by Toshifumi Aaki and CloverWorks, with Hiroshi Seko as the series composer. Taishi Kawakami was responsible for character design, and Ryo Takahashi composed the music. The main cast of the anime includes Yuma Uchida as Haruka Sakura, Koki Uchiyama as Kyotaro Sugishita, Nobunaga Shimazaki as Hayato Suo, Yuichi Nakamura as Hajime Umemiya, Ryota Suzuki as Toma Hiragi, and Shoya Chiba as Akihiko Nirei.
The second season of Wind Breaker will continue the animated adaptation of Satoru Nii’s manga series of the same name. The manga was first published in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket in January 2021 and is currently ongoing with regular releases.
In Spring 2022, Kodansha USA Publishing acquired the rights to publish the manga digitally in English. As of recently, the series has also been released in print, with a description provided by the publisher.
