PUMA Accused of Plagiarizing BLACKPINK’s Jennie’s Style for Promotion?

In the past few days, a photo went viral on social media, allegedly promoting the PUMA Speedcat shoes, for which Rosé is a brand ambassador. What caught the attention of netizens was the outfit worn by the model in the photo, which bore a striking resemblance to a look previously worn by Jennie, another member of BLACKPINK. This sparked a discussion among fans of the two idols, given that Jennie is currently an ambassador for Adidas, a rival brand of PUMA.

The model’s outfit, consisting of PUMA Speedcat shoes, a similar hairstyle, sunglasses, and clothes, bore a striking resemblance to an ensemble previously worn by Adidas ambassador Jennie, with a similarity of about 90%.

Initially, numerous individuals were under the mistaken impression that the unconventional marketing campaign was orchestrated by PUMA. However, the reality is quite distinct. In fact, the contentious photograph was actually created by a Thai sports fashion retailer called CARNIVAL. This particular brand had developed the promotional visuals for PUMA’s popular footwear collection, ultimately leading to a misinterpretation of PUMA’s involvement.

Simply put, this concept originated from CARNIVAL and did not involve PUMA.

CARNIVAL created these photos to promote the wildly popular PUMA Speedcat shoes and to advertise their own red-logoed CARNIVAL hat.

CARNIVAL’s published a post on Instagram with a caption clarifying that they were responsible for the PUMA Speedcat promotional photos. PUMA’s official Instagram account does not follow this retailer.

Recently, with Rosé becoming PUMA’s global ambassador, she has been actively promoting and enhancing the brand’s influence through two shoe models, Palermo and Speedcat.
